Mika Mendes – Diferente / Krista & Dainis Kizomba Dance @ Baltic Salsa Show Cup 2017 Competition
🔥🔥🔥 ONKIZOMBA ON STAGE!! Krista & Dainis Baltic Salsa Show Cup 2017: Kizomba Competition 🔥🔥🔥
Now this is a super special post for me personally … but I hope you will enjoy the sharing and opening up.
It is a great story of challenges in the dancing world.
This video and post will hopefully inspire you & give you some encouragement and ideas to take away.
At first, I just give a short story – so you can understand what video is about.
Secondly you can read the main lessons and takeaways that I was learning as I was going through all the stress and preparation.
Surely you will take something away that’s useful for you!
★★★ FIRSTLY!!! ★★★
If you want to jump straight to video, here is very short backstory.
9 months ago I started practicing kizomba every day and the first goal was to compete on Baltic Salsa Show Cup.
It’s a small competition – but it was something to push myself and give some kind of deadline for the show preparation.
It started with different dance partner, the show was completely different before..
It took a lot of arguing and silencing of EGO. But the outcome is always worth it!
Thanks to Krista Bičevska for the patience and dedication to keep going 😃 You’re THE BEST!
So in this competition the format was that everybody would dance together socially two times + everybody prepared a dancing show (1.5 min)
In the end there were only 5 couples who competed. In this video you can see – our show + two parts of social dancing.
Social dancing means – that we didn’t know what song would be played and we just danced.
Dance show means that we prepared the song and the choreography.
And yeah, I know because of stress we still messed up some parts socially and the show could be better – but it’s the best one we done so far when so many people were watching.
Eh, don’t be too critical and be inspired instead! 🙂
Okay. Now you are ready to watch the video 😃
★★★ Main Lessons & Takeaways from preparing to this competition. ★★★
I would really recommend to any dancer to either compete or promise to create a show for family event or whatever.
Because with goals – you will stretch yourself.
Without goals – you will practice a little bit, have a little fun – but have very little growth.
For me too – it’s easy to feel like a great dancer in local parties or even festivals.
To become a good dancer – it’s really not that hard.
To become a great dancer – now that’s a real challenge ( just so you know, I don’t think of myself as a great dancer yet).
But little weekly, monthly, quarterly milestones will go long way to consistent growth.
Okay, now off to lessons in a simple list:
1. Create a milestones and goals for your practice. Without goals, you will invest hours, but not have consistent growth. I still have a lot of these practices unfortunately, but to make the most effect in shorter time – you must have a purpose for a practice. Competition helped for practices – we always had parts of show to work on.
// Note: If you want to read all 10 lessons check out Facebook post.
That’s it in short eh.
I don’t claim to be an expert by any means.
I have so much work ahead and need a lot of time to master the very same tips I am sharing with you here above.
But I am getting there! What are your dancing goals?
Maybe you have some tips to share how to perform better in public and overcome your anxieties?
If you have a story to share about your dancing growth – would love to hear it! 😃
Talk to you in comments section! 🙂
Baltic Salsa Show Cup has many categories and the most popular is salsa category – salsa cubano, rueda, bachata, kizomba – it has it all! 🙂
